QUICK ANSWER

The current answer

The WARDOGS September Beta is over. BULKHEAD opened the test to everyone on September 5 and kept the announced end at September 6, 08:00 UTC. An old Playtest installation or pre-order does not reopen that test. Steam Early Access remains scheduled for September 10, 2026.

September test

The September Beta is closed

Closed Beta 02 ran in September and changed to an Open Beta for its final hours. BULKHEAD’s September 5 announcement invited everyone to join until Sunday at 08:00 UTC, which was September 6. The closed-test invitation rules describe the earlier phase; they are no longer the current way to get into a match.

The Steam pre-purchase text lists the September test window as September 3 at 19:00 UTC to September 6 at 08:00 UTC. The FPS Games Show started at 18:00 UTC; that show time should not be used as the gameplay start time.

The completed Playtest and the paid main game are separate Steam applications. Early Access is scheduled for September 10. A Play button on an old test client does not establish that its match servers are open.

Access history

Closed invitations changed to Open Beta access

  • The initial Closed Beta 02 offer granted test access to pre-orders and admitted free Steam Playtest requests in invitation waves. A free request was not an immediate invitation.
  • On September 5, BULKHEAD opened the Beta to everyone for the remaining test window. That superseded the invitation-only description for its final hours.
  • The test then ended on September 6 at 08:00 UTC. Signing up, buying the game or installing an old Playtest now does not extend that window.
  • For September 10, use the main WARDOGS Steam library entry on the account that owns it. A free Beta invitation does not grant ownership of the paid game.
  • Any future test needs a new announcement with its own dates and access rules. There is no permanent Beta schedule to infer from September.

Connection help

Beta client shows no servers: start with the closed window

An empty September Playtest browser after the scheduled test ended is a reason to check the calendar first. Reinstalling does not reopen a completed test. An empty list by itself also cannot prove a global outage.

  • Read the Steam library entry: WARDOGS Playtest and the main WARDOGS game are different clients.
  • Check the latest official announcement for a new test or main-game release. The September 3–6 window has finished.
  • During an active release window, finish client updates and check server-browser filters. Keep the test-era workaround separate from current-build behavior.
  • If sign-in fails with a code, copy the entire message. A login error and an empty server list need different checks.

Prepare to play

Get ready for your first match

  • Compare your PC with the published requirements and start with conservative graphics settings.
  • Learn the Control Zone objective and buy a loadout you can afford to replace.
  • Read weapon recommendations with their Beta 1 version boundary in mind. Balance can change in Beta 02 and Early Access.
  • Keep test rewards, XP and purchases separate from launch expectations. Check new official progression and entitlement announcements before assuming carry-over.

Prepare your client, rewards and account

  • Twitch Drops Follow the reward from the campaign card to your linked account. Use Twitch’s current campaign details for eligibility, deadlines and reward type.
  • Troubleshooting Start with the point where play stops. Entitlement, installation, server availability, controls and performance need different checks.
  • System requirements Compare the Windows PC specification tiers, identify your hardware, and understand the resolution and frame-rate targets before changing graphics settings.
  • Linux & Proton The current answer matters more than an August success report: Linux is not officially supported, and Proton compatibility is not promised for September 10.

Will there be another WARDOGS Beta?

A further test needs a new official announcement. The next listed milestone is the paid Steam Early Access release on September 10.
