WARDOGS has no confirmed Steam Deck compatibility rating in the current Steam report. Linux is not officially supported, and Proton support is not guaranteed for September 10. Treat SteamOS play as unconfirmed for the current release; do not use an old Beta’s FPS result as a promise that today’s build will launch or join servers.
Check compatibility before adjusting graphics
Steam Deck’s hardware, SteamOS support and game controls are separate checks. A game can fit in storage and recognize a controller but still fail online authorization. Conversely, a title that launches may need readable UI and input changes before it is comfortable on a handheld.
The current Steam compatibility response has no established Deck rating for WARDOGS. Unknown is not the same as a Verified badge, and it is not itself a benchmark. The separate Linux support update says Proton compatibility is still in progress with no launch commitment.
The LCD and OLED Deck share the same need for a compatible game build. A video recorded on one model during the August test does not establish compatibility, battery life or frame rate for another model in September.

Set up a compatible build without losing the baseline
- Check the current Steam store compatibility details and Linux announcement. If the intended build is not supported, stop at that result rather than applying a purported anti-cheat fix.
- Confirm that the intended Steam library entry is installed and entitled to run. An invitation to a Playtest is distinct from main-game ownership.
- Check free storage before installation. The Windows listing asks for 50 GB available; actual downloads, updates and having both test and main entries installed can require different amounts of space.
- When a compatible build is available, start from its supported/default configuration. Save the starting resolution, preset, upscaler and controller layout before experimenting.
- Check handheld menus and a short session before testing a busy match. Make one graphics change at a time and compare frame-time stability as well as the displayed FPS.
- Test an ordinary quit and relaunch. For an online session, do not assume sleep/resume will preserve the server connection; reconnect normally if needed.
Trackpads, back buttons and menu access
A Steam Input layout can provide mouse-style menu access and keyboard commands on the Deck’s controls. That is a possible input mapping, not proof of complete native gamepad support in WARDOGS. Start with a simple mapping before adding action sets for vehicles.
Prioritize the actions that can leave you stuck: interact, cancel/back, inventory, map and push-to-talk. If a touchpad controls a mouse pointer, check that you can still close the menu and return to aiming without a conflicting input.
Keep the original layout available. A shared community layout may target a different test build, screen prompt or keyboard arrangement.

Why this page does not give a guaranteed FPS preset
The official desktop minimum target is 1080p Low at 60 FPS with upscaling. It is not a Steam Deck target. Desktop GTX 1660/RX 590 requirements cannot be converted directly into a handheld FPS guarantee.
Once access works, pick a stable frame cap that your measured session can sustain, rather than copying a high target from a quiet area. Compare visibility and menu readability after each resolution or upscaler change. A sharper still image may not be the most usable result during motion.
Thermals, power settings, screen brightness and the exact build affect a handheld session. This guide has no measured WARDOGS battery-life or Deck benchmark table, so it does not invent one.
